Pointers to help you organize your trip to Costa Rica

Although Costa Rica is a country that has been widely documented, being that it has been for many years now, one of the top tourist destination countries of choice of many travelers around the world, with people visiting from all over, all year round, if you know little about the country, planning your first trip to the “Pura Vida” country may feel like an overwhelming task.

The expression “Pura Vida” translates to “Pure Life” in English and a term commonly used by Costa Ricans. Expect to hear it often during your upcoming vacation. It´s used to say “thank you”, “hello” and “good bye”.

On this text you will find little guide with facts about the country that will be very helpful to know beforehand, when planning your trip to Costa Rica:

First off, know that Costa Rica has all kinds of choices for all budgets: there are many accommodation options, different types of attractions and activities, for all types of moods and tastes. Always keep in mind your personality and your needs while making your travel plans.

Costa Rica´s offers a wide range of attractions and activities, therefore, if you are not the “adventurous type of person”, you probably want to stay away from hiking the Corcovado National Park, for instance. On the other hand, if you are a Nature and Adventure enthusiast, visiting the Corcovado National Park will probably be one of the best experiences of your life.

All travel destinations in Costa Rica are beautiful but, not all destinations are for all people necessarily, so these are a few pointers to help you get started with your investigation, this is our list of areas of Costa Rica broken-down by personality types and also, by type of “situation”:

ADVENTURE LOVERS

Check into places like:

-Volcán Arenal, Volcán Barva, Volcán Rincón de la Vieja.

-Look into Península de Osa.

-Pacuare River Rafting, check out Rio Celeste in La Fortuna.

NATURE LOVERS

Check into places like:

-Beaches in the province of Limón: Tortuguero, Puerto Viejo, Playa Cocles, Playa Punta Uva, Manzanillo.

-Beaches in the province of Puntarenas: Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Playa Ventanas.

-Peninsula de Osa.

-Beaches in the province of Puntarenas: Jaco Beach, Hermosa Beach (15 minutes away from Jaco), Manuel Antonio; also in Puntarenas, crossing the Golf of Nicoya: Santa Teresa, Montezuma.

-Beaches in the province of Guanacaste: go to Tamarindo, Avellanas, El Coco, Samara.

-Beaches in the province of Limón: go to Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo.
