Access to be Beach
We would like to be clear about one thing: roads in Costa Rica are tough but doable in most cases. Do not expect USA or Europe Highways. Most roads have only 2 lanes and are unmarked, which makes it tough to drive at night and when it´s raining. That being said, many people tourists drive and are fine with it.
1 = No Roads 2 = Very Tough 3 = Doable-Use caution 4 = Not Bad 5 = Easy
Grade = 5
Conveniences at the Beach

Grade = 5
Notes:
Tamarindo once was a quite fishing beach but now, Tamarindo has become one of the most developed and accessible tourist beach towns in Costa Rica.
Tamarindo or Tama like us locals call it, is a short 1 hour drive from the Liberia airport (LIR), or a 4-5 hour drive from Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela.
Tama is a great beach, excellent waves for surfers. If you want to learn how to surf, this beach is an awesome place to start. You will find many Surf Schools and people of all ages learning.
In general, you will see lots of people surfing and boogie boarding in the ocean. Right around 5pm, you´ll see how everyone begins to walk over to the beach to watch Tamarindo´s stunning sunsets.
You will not run out of things to do or places to go to just sit and people-watch, have a bite to eat and drink.
Tamarindo is a very active and touristy-type of beach.
